Beyond Worms is a family business, and operates near Gin Gin, in the Wide Bay Burnett Region of Queensland - in an area known as the 'Food Bowl'.
Owners Gordon and Chris are Associate members of Vermicrobe Internationaland prescribe to the company's know how and expertise in the production of high quality vermicultural products. In the early 2000's a federal state of the environmental report was released examining Australia's agricultural soil and at specific soil problems. The facts of that report said that if nothing was done up to 10% of usable soil for agricultural production would be unusable in 20 years. That included 6 million hectares to salinity and 13 million hectares to soil acidity.
Soil acidity is caused by intensive and extensive cropping and overuse of chemical fertilisers. The answer in the past has been to liberally apply lime to the soil, but this is a short term and a very expensive exercise.
We believe that the humble earthworm has a lot to contribute to our environment and our soil. If we look after their environment, then they in turn will look after the soil.
By analyzing the soil we can see what is lacking and by using natural vermicultural products 'locked up' nutrients can be released and the biology can be brought back to the soil.
Beyond Worms has been set up to provide environmentally friendly products for the domestic situation as well as cater for the small acre farmer with specially designed soil treatment programs. These natural products are derived from the workings of the compost worm to enhance and bring back the life into our gardens and farms. We are also able to offer a range of 'On-site Waste Treatment Digesters' for use by organic waste producers on a commercial scale. Makes recycling of food preparation waste, cooked food waste, lawn clippings, and other green garden waste, combined with cardboard and paper waste possible on-site with significant reduction in the cost and volume of waste being removed from a premise.
During the year we attend various festivals displaying our products, these include the Gayndah Orange Festival, Childers Mulitcultural Festival, and the Bundy Flavours Festival.
Last year we joined 'Growing The Burnett Inc' based in Memerambi near Kingaroy, and
they are now agents for our high quality fertilisers. See a cover
